When In The World Is StarCraft II Coming Out?

Photobucket
StarCraft II Release Date?...?

I have been waiting for soooooo long for this game to come out.  Maddman and myself tried to get on the Beta testing crew, along with four or five of our friend, and not one of us got that glorious e-mail. Blast!

"When is the game coming out?
At this point, it's too early to provide an estimate of the release date. As with all Blizzard games, we will take as much time as needed to ensure the game is as fun, balanced, and polished as possible." http://www.starcraft2.com/faq.xml  - This is the direct qoute from the starcraft website!
Come on! Just tell us already!  I wanted this game yesterday. Maddman and I will be covering this game in detail once we can get our gamy little hands on it.
Photobucket

I think this picture rocks, and I know Maddman will get a kick out of it.  He like the Terran!  I'm more of a Protoss man myself, and Jinco's not a big StarCraft fan, but the few times he did play he tried the Zerg, and didn't do to well.  That's okay Jinco maybe you'll do better with Star Craft II.

The pictures are complements of the fan Down load package from the StarCraft II website.

Pros: Battlefield 1943 has taken World War II, to a whole new level.  The original (Battlefield 1942) may have had more maps, and more vehicles, but it doesn't have the graphics or the class.  With simplified player classes, and newer better vehicle physics this game is Awesome!  I've heard the complaint that BF1943 is Grainy.  If you feel this way then you need to invest in a good HDMI cable.  The imagery of the terrain is beautiful.  The colors are nearly spot on, from blue shifting oceans to freckled greenery this game has something most games don't, real-time artwork.
Just like Bad company the destructive environment puts this game in a class all its own.  Plus, if you've every played a WWII based dog fighting game for the PS3 you will quickly realize that BF 1943's interpretation of fighter plane physics and durability are at the forefront the ADF (Aerial Dog fighting) Genre.  Pushing the envelope!

Cons:  There is no single player mode.  Not that battlefield 1943 was ever intended to be a single player game, but they could have at least put in an offline player management system or something.  The Shot register is a little off.  Generally a sniper should always have at least three rounds in his/her mag before taking on a new target.  A player with full health will always take three shots before going down, unless you get a head shot.  Good luck with that.  The vehicles glitch when bumping into other vehicles on your team...Gets annoying.

Final word:
This game is too much fun for anyone to ever trash talk it.  I think the only reason why people may talk down about it is due to the size of the maps.  A person used to a cramped FPS arena is going to have a hard time getting used to a map that's at least one hundred times larger than the ones they normally play on.  Large maps are Great!

I'm going to coin a new phrase.  ADF (Aerial Dog Fighting) game, you heard it here first... A new Genre of game, or not so new as it is just now becoming more popular, but still, you heard Esko say ADF!!!!!

Pros: This has to be the most popular FPS out there right now.  Modern Warfare has one of THE largest followings I have seen in a while.  My friends kept urging me to get this game, and when I finally did I was surprised.  This game is actually pretty cool.  The player classes are customizable, and the ranking system is one of the best out there in the FPS realm.  I also liked the shot register.  When you get a kill shot the player goes down, fast.  That is the way it should be in these realistic FPS style games.

Cons:  The small maps and specific spawn points make this game turn into a massacre quickly.  I don't like the air strikes.  The canisters bouncing across the screen and going through buildings and trees with causing any destruction is for lack of a better word Gay, ( I don't mean Happy!).  For a game that is so well rounded they could have stepped it up one more rung and hit the subject of destructive environments and polished up the poor graphics in a few spots.

Final Word:
Even though the maps are small and the Graphics could use a bit of a boost I can see why this is one of the most popular FPS style games out to day.  Modern Warfare two is on its way, and I hope Activision is setting the pace for the FPS gaming world!

Pros:   When I think Real Time Strategy, I think Total War.  The makers of the the Total War series (SEGA) have been lugging a briny pot of brew to the gamers table every year it seems (yum salty brew!).  That's what I'm talking about people.  This game makes chess look like a baby toy.  You can't get more military strategy in you diet than you can with the Empire Total War.
The naval battles keep me up late at night.  I love playing games with an original twist and Empire has definitely achieved that.  The attention to detail is amazing.  We need more games like this out there.  The Total War series brings a level of history and education to the table that the gaming generation really needs to see, and embedding it into a game like this is the prospect for retention in my opinion.  Thanks SEGA keep it coming please!

Cons:  Campaign mode is SOOOooooo hard!  I'm no genius, but damn!  Couldn't you make a supper easy mode?
The online multiplayer mode is difficult at best to get a full game started.  Then once you do get a 4v4 game going then you have to wait for all of the slow computers to catch up.  The lag and syncing are too slow for a quick game, so if you want to play at least one good PvP game put it into your schedule.  It may take a while.

Final Word:
This game could have the worst graphics out there and I would still love it for the content it provides.  If you notice this game is in my hit list, and I would venture to say it will be there for a long, long time...

Pros:   The Graphics in this game are Awesome, coupled with the Super realistic handling and this game is joy ride.  This isn't your typical racing game with easy catchup options and arcade style playing.  This game is more like simulator, that has the look and feel of the real thing, making every twist and turn a nail biter.  The races just keep coming, with new tracks every step of the way, and unlike most racing games these days, this game gets harder and harder as you go.

Cons:  Multiplayer is only a time trial which makes online play boring.  Understandably this is more of a simulator, and rally style racing in it's truest form has always been time based, Still, I would have loved to get online and race eight to ten players in an intense short dirt track challenge.  I've also notice that some objects will bring your vehicle to a dead stop and others won't even slow you down, This gets annoying when trying to beat the game.

Final Word:
Although, this game lacks a bit in the online section it does pose an immense challenge in the single player field.  I thoroughly enjoyed this game offline, and this one will be in my library for a long time.

Pros: This game made its debut on the PS1 and has been brought back on each subsequent game system ever since.  Not much has changed in Worms.  The weapons are very much the same, the control style hasn't budged.   This game has real class.
The Multiplayer aspect was always my favorite way to play this game hands down.  For the not so avid gamer this is the perfect breakthrough game for you.  With turn based strategy you don't have to worry about the enemy killing you while you decide what to do.  I have gotten relatives to pick up the controller for this game.  The new FPS games can be very intimidating for the not so inclined gamer.  Worms, spans generations and, can make a night of gaming fun for the whole family.

Cons: Although this game spans Generations, it lacks the average gamers need for content.  The single player challenge mode give the gamer something to work for, but I beat every challenge in two hours.  The two demensional graphics can be a turn off for some gamers as well.
This game is only available as down-loadable content on the Playstation network, which in a way, hides from the general public.  I think this game would be a smash hit with a slew of people, but due to the fact that it is stored in the PS3's online dungeon it may never have a chance to reach the spotlight.
The online rating system is broken also, which makes playing ranked games pointless in my opinion.

Final Word:

This game is very fun with friends or family.  I suggest purchasing this game if you have at least three people you can play this game with at home.  There is nothing better than throwing a holy grenade and watching worms scatter across the board in a spectacular explosion!

Pros: EA SPORTS Madden football has been around for a long time, and every year they seem to push the console to new limits.  Madden 10 boasts a new graphics engine which sets the bar for sports games across the board.  I love the fact that they took out QB vision ( I hated QB vision).  It's all about skill in this years Madden football.  Running, tackling, shuffle stepping, high stepping, have all evolved to new heights in Madden 10.  My favorite added feature would have to be online franchise mode.  The ability to play an entire franchise against human players gives Madden a new edge never seen before.

Cons:   This game is made for the die hard fan.  Every year it gets harder and harder to play this game.  only a few years ago you could either call a defensive audible or shift the defensive formation a little.  Now, you can call double coverage shift your D-line after the hike, send specific back blitzing, take and specific player off of zone coverage and man up.  The list goes on.  As the years pass the user manual grows larger and larger for Madden football, and the tutorials are getting so long and taking up so much space that before you know it EA is going to have to add another CD to encompass the tutorial modes.

Final Word:

If you like to play football you better keep up by purchasing every Madden game that comes out from now on.  Don't get left behind or you will be as embarrassed as I get when I hop online for a good old fashioned butt whooping!

Pros: This game hit me as something of a kids game at first, but at second glance it's much deeper than I thought.  To think I almost through it into the play later pile.  This game is as deep into action puzzles as you can possibly get at the moment.  The aesthetic value is very pleasing to the eye, with cute sack characters that have an endless collections of customizations, these little guys really know how to party.
Plus, the user friendly map builder is an awesome tool allowing you to create your own levels and share them with your friends over the PSNetwork.  I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed this game.

Cons: The four layer 2D mapping is a bit challenging to get used to, considering most gamers these days are used to more 3D realistic Graphics.  Also, I would love to be able to have a little more control over the tightness of the camera while in game play.  other than that with this completely unique game at my finger tips it's hard for me to pick at it anymore than that...

Final Word:

Don't miss this game people.  I could have overlooked it very easily.  The average FPS gamer probably would skip this game, but I'm glad I didn't...  If you get a chance check it out, and trust me you wont be disappointed.

My Idea of the Worlds best Game!!!

            The Best Game Ever!

To start This game would have to be a combination of all of the best games out today.  I would make it a (FPS) first person shooter (MMORPG) massive multiplayer online role playing game!  that's a freaking mouth full! So... This FPSMMORPG would have to stand out against the two genres to begin with.
THREE FACTIONS: Three sided battles tend to be difficult to compete in due to the nature of the beast, but if this three faction game were to have PvP maps where only two of the three factions could compete that would make things run a little more smoothly.  The map would be a large circle from above and it would be separated like a pie with three slices marking the evenly placed boundaries.  the center would be a much smaller circle where constant pvp action would be raging, and a fight for control of territory would be taking place.  Faction vrs faction battles could be started on the neighboring borders.  when a faction tries to infiltrate the enemies territory a call to arms will be sent to the battling factions.  At that time a player would have a few minutes to get to a ready terminal where they could suit up for battle and wait to be ushered onto the battlefield.
Once a faction vrs faction match is over the attacking faction is given a ten minute window to send waves of attacks in the enemies territory.  that would be the only time the enemy faction could be in another teams home territory.  For that ten minutes the entire map is at risk, and under attack.
Player Classes: Just like an MMORPG a player will select a character class at the beginning of setting up the game.  Player classes will be very specific.  1. Vehicle crewman  2. Sniper 3. Demo 4. Assault 5. Recon 6. Medic 7. Engineer 8. anti tank 9. runner/animal 10. digger 11. builder 12. Breach 13. Hunter 14 blocker 15. caster 16. tamer 17. blacksmith 18. armorer 19. mortar man 20 heavy machine gunner.
Each player class will get one class specific weapon, trait, and custom slot.  As the player progresses newer weapons can be acquired that pertain only to the specific player class that they are.  Once that player reaches maximum level a new trait can be acquired, but the player will start over at level one.  Both traits will be usable, and weapons interchangeable.
Better P2P: Better player to player interaction with side games, and quests, and a fully integrated multidimensional statistics engine.  Texas holdem tournaments, for gear, and barging rights.  Euchre, Spades, Hearts, Racing, 1v1 PvP, Chess, Checkers, Darts, Pool, Treasure hunting, Bosses, General ( officer ) stats for victories. all PvP related stats hit % Kills etc.

A game like this would capture to genre's and two different gamer profiles.  I know I would love to play a game like this, if only I know how to code.

Maddman and I have had numerous conversations about games we would like to see in the future and I would have to say the future looks good for this one.  Any game producer would be smart to invest in an idea like this if only to capture two different audiences and bring them together.  with the potential to grow and audience much larger that WOW could ever come close to.  That's my idea of the perfect game.

Pros:

Cons:

Perfect Dark Zero for the XBOX360 is a futuristic FPS that will surely keep any gamer on the edge of their seat. Whether playing in the offline campaign, or online with XBOX Live, the game will surely keep you occupied for many hours.

When comparing the new game Perfect Dark Zero for the XBOX360 to the original Perfect Dark for the Nintendo64, I would have to give the game a well deserved tip of my hat for the effort put into improving the games graphics and mechanics.

In the multi-player mode, whether its on XBOX Live or split screen, the game has always been good at giving the gamer a challenge. The addition of customizable simulants made the game even more challenging and always kept myself looking to improve where possible.

The only down side that i have found to the game is the limited number of weapons a player can carry, when compared to the unlimited number of weapons you could carry in the original classic for the Nintendo64.

I personally would give the game a well deserved 10 for sheer fact that it had a lot to accomplish to beat the previous games status (or even compete with it) in the gaming world. I don't know about anybody else, but Perfect Dark for the Nintendo64 was a must have, and is irreplaceable in my collection.

With this new Perfect Dark Zero I find myself always finding new ways to defeat my enemies, and with the new vehicle system, it seems I can never get enough.

Though the Multi-Player community on XBOX Live has moved onto newer games, I will continue to play this epic game as intensely as the original on the Nintendo64.

The only thing I ask myself when I load up the game is. "Which gun do I choose?"
